As a "retired" planner of 20 years, Jeannie Power, CMP (10 years ago!) recently reinvented her own event planning company to create Power Event Group. With Power Event Group, she now specializes in assisting planners integrate and understand the technology they are being faced with.

Jeannie Power, CMP - Power Event Group

Jeannie is a dynamic player in the event industry, with 20 years of experience. She started her first company, Event Elements, in upstate New York in 2004. Jeannie is a leading expert in the rapidly changing event technology field. With both event planning and technology expertise (and obsession with the newest tech gadgets!), Jeannie is able to speak to language of the event planner, and bridge the gap when it comes to event technology.

She earned her CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) from the Convention Industry Council in 2007. Jeannie enjoys the challenge of creating a customized and engaging attendee experience by thoughtfully integrating event technology. She has over 10 years of experience in online event registration management using a variety of software systems. Jeannie also has extensive experience integrating mobile apps and gamification into meetings and event design and has a Level 1 certification in Gamification Design. She is intrigued by the psychology behind integrating game thinking and mechanics into non-game contexts to solve problems and achieve goals. Jeannie is also a social media fangirl and is addicted to sharing information to improve the hospitality industry.

Jeannie is a Past President of Meeting Professionals International - Virginia Chapter and continues to play a key role in the organization. She is a speaker on event technology, speaking at events such as CMP Conclave, Smart Meetings, HSMAI MEET National, Reston Herndon Meeting Planners and the Virginia, Tennessee, and Philadelphia Chapters of Meeting Professionals International.

In this session we will examine ways to take something that is particularly stressful in our lives (weight loss, eating healthier, increasing energy, etc.) and use the principles of gamification to change the outcome.

Game Killers. We all know the type. Maybe we ARE the type. They are the attendees that get so far ahead of the game at an event that they cannot be caught, so people don't even try to play. With an increasing number of attendees arriving at events with smartphones and tablets, it’s vital for planners to adopt a mobile strategy for their events. Despite popular belief, mobile event apps are much more than simply digitized event guides, offering enhanced learning experiences for attendees, more exposure for sponsors, and new ways for association planners to measure and track success factors. Going beyond available features, we’ll discuss how to integrate a mobile strategy into your existing workflow and how to use app analytics post-event to measure success and identify areas of improvement.

The Power Sessions

Combining 25 years of event planning, almost 15 years of teaching high school, middle school, and elementary school in the public school system, 10 years of event technology, 5 years behind the camera as an event photographer, and a marriage license, Josh and Jeannie Power will be combining their powers to vanquish all of your event technology questions! The Power Sessions will not be your ordinary speaking sessions, or the gimmicky shows. We will be providing honest, thought-provoking, and memorable sessions that your attendees will leave talking about. Stay tuned!
