More features do not always create a better event experience.

Technology Bits 01

It is easy to assume that adding another feature will make an event feel more modern, more personalized, or more engaging. Sometimes it does.

Other times, it creates another login, another set of instructions, another place for attendees to get lost, and another responsibility for the planning team.

The most impressive feature in a platform demo may not be the one that matters most during the actual event. A feature only adds value when people understand it, use it, and benefit from it.

Before adding something new, it may help to ask:
01
What problem does this solve?
02
Who will actually use it?
03
What new work will it create?
04
Will it make the experience easier?

Technology should support the event, not become another event that has to be managed. The better choice is not always the platform that can do the most, but the one that provides the right amount of technology for the experience.

This is one of the questions we return to when helping event teams evaluate technology. Capability matters, but usefulness matters more.

That is all. Carry on.
